I know, it's hard for us too. XD But because Roxas isn't used to having a heart, every time something significant happens -- in our case, this is marked by Roxas achieving a new Drive state, there's a Dive to the Heart sequence, where Roxas and [person he's Driving with] end up on the stained glass of the Station of Calling, with Sora. And they all have a pleasant chat!
Sora, really, is Sora. He wouldn't have just laid down and died -- but this is the way it happened, and he can accept that. And Roxas is a part of him, and in a way he does feel like Roxas deserves a chance himself. He wouldn't have laid down and died for him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't feel BAD for him. And so he's kind of happy, in a way, that it's Roxas's turn to live now. Roxas thinks he's the most confusing person ever and doesn't understand him at all. He's such a sweetheart. *weeps*
As for the darkness: the curious thing about Nobodies is that they all have elemental affinities but it doesn't seem like NORMAL people do. Sora doesn't have an elemental affinity, and neither does Donald -- they can both use all kinds of magic. Sora doesn't have a native element. But Roxas's element is light -- even though he was born from darkness, from base impulse, from pure survival instinct. Curious, I think~! So what I'm saying here is that if anything it's the opposite, and Roxas has the affinity of light because of who Sora is, but at the same time, that doesn't make him less part of the darkness, just like all Nobodies. :3
Thaaaaat is a plot hole tricky situation. There are two possibilities: the room where they keep Sora is already established to be special. DiZ had it built specifically for Namine when she joined him in the mansion, because it was like Castle Oblivion -- an in-between space, real and not real, and thus easy for her to work her witchery in. Not much of a stretch to assume it can be in both places, and thus Sora can be in both places.
The other possibility, and I like that one, is that you're right, and Sora was never physically in the same room with Roxas. It's simply that upon reaching that point, a confused and tired and broken boy who doesn't know who he was anymore and is starting to think maybe he shouldn't exist, just... gave up, and Sora's stronger will drew the pieces of himself back together without his ever even noticing. It just happened unconsciously to make him whole again. I really like that theory -- it fits very neatly with my perception about what happened with the "eating" in the first place. ♥ *pompoms you*
Another Side!Roxas doesn't trust Mickey, who doesn't actually show up for the longest time, just tells them where to go without ever actually speaking to them in person. It felt to him like being manipulated. But... well. ♥ It's Mickey.
He doesn't have Samurai, though. :\ It's kind of tearing him up a bit, but he's not a Nobody now. He has a heart, he's Somebody. They can't obey him over Xemnas anymore...
The Assassins had to go through a very ugly position to get to where they are here, with Axel again. X3 But that's a seeeecret.
